Pink Pig Cakes!

This week our writing group has been focussing on the letter 'p'. Today we decorated pink pig cupcakes. We used pink icing, marshmallows, chocolate drops and pink wafers. Not only did they look fantastic, they tasted fantastic too!

Week One Fun!

Check out all the amazing things we have been doing this week in Parerā 5! Frankie, Sahel and Monty started school.  Sahel celebrated his 5th birthday and his Mum brought in a delicious chocolate cake to share with us - good timing Mrs Lidstone! A parerā (grey duck) visited Parerā 5! We learnt about the letter 'a' so we went on an ant hunt. We followed a recipe to make playdough. We used our playdough to make balls and worms and then we turned our worms into letters. We chased bubbles for fitness. We learnt a new maths game called 'Lilypads'. We are learning to identify the numbers 1-10. We completed a maths activity in our activity books. We visited Pīwakawaka 1/2 at the end of the day on Thursday to meet and play with the other Year 1 children. N is for noodle necklaces ... P is for pasta ...

This week our focus letters have been 'p' and 'n'. To help consolidate our learning, and have fun at the same time, we made n oodle n ecklaces - and bracelets for some! Inspired by the macaroni we had used to make our necklaces, the next day we cooked p lain  p asta. We drew picture plans to illustrate the process. We practised setting the table, using our table manners and clearing the table and washing our dishes after eating. A yummy afternoon treat!
