Week One Fun!

Check out all the amazing things we have been doing this week in Parerā 5! Frankie, Sahel and Monty started school.  Sahel celebrated his 5th birthday and his Mum brought in a delicious chocolate cake to share with us - good timing Mrs Lidstone! A parerā (grey duck) visited Parerā 5! We learnt about the letter 'a' so we went on an ant hunt. We followed a recipe to make playdough. We used our playdough to make balls and worms and then we turned our worms into letters. We chased bubbles for fitness. We learnt a new maths game called 'Lilypads'. We are learning to identify the numbers 1-10. We completed a maths activity in our activity books. Kia ora whānau. Welcome to St Albans School! My name is Mrs Cara Wallace and I will be your child's home base teacher this year. The children will call me 'Cara'. Our home base name is Parerā 5. All of the hubs in our school are named after native New Zealand birds and Parerā is the Māori word for our native Grey Duck. We are the first class in our hub. As the roll grows, we will welcome new teachers and children into our large collaborative teaching and learning space. Throughout the year we will also work closely with Pīwakawaka our other Year One hub. Please click on the 'Notices' tab above to find out information about our classroom programme, stationery, uniform and several other important items. I look forward to meeting you all in the near future. .
